When planning a trip to Germany, my husband insisted on bike trips down the romantic Rhine River and tours of historic castles. I wanted art, architecture and shopping. Instead of the Rhine Valley’s well-known tourist centers such as Heidelberg and Cologne, we opted for Düsseldorf and found everything we wanted.
